What could change
Metro proposes to increase bus and rail fares, parking costs and MetroAccess rates to overcome a $116 million budget shortfall. The proposal would eliminate the peak-of-the-peak surcharge that passengers pay for riding the subway during the busiest weekday periods — and simplify fares to two types, off-peak and peak.If approved, most of the rate changes will go into effect July 1.
