Woman charged in slaying of her husband in Laurel

A 30-year-old woman was booked Saturday on second-degree murder charges in the death of her husband, who was found stabbed to death Friday in the couple’s Laurel home.

About 10:30 a.m. Friday, police were called to 8388 Frostwood Road, in Laurel, where they found Johnnie Sutton III, 38, suffering from multiple stab wounds, Anne Arundel County police said. Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said their investigation led to the arrest of Marquita Berry-Sutton, who turned herself in Saturday. Berry-Sutton was being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Authorities said Johnnie Sutton was a member of the U.S. States Army. They said the couple has a 21 month-old child who was home at the time of the incident and is in the custody of relatives.

No details about the motive in the case were released.
