Woman found dead on Route 50

August 22, 2013

A woman was found dead Thursday night near an exit ramp of Route 50 in the Landover area, and Prince George’s County police are investigating the death as a possible hit-and-run, police officials said.

A person called police to report a body along westbound Route 50, near the Route 202 exit ramp about 9:30 p.m., said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a police spokesman. Arriving officers found the woman dead at the scene, but there were no witnesses and no vehicle had stopped, he said.

Police shut down the westbound lanes of traffic at the intersection to Route 202 to Kilmer Road while they investigate.

It was not immediately clear why police believed the death was caused by a hit-and-run driver.
