Woman shot in Navy Yard rampage released from hospital

One of the last two people being treated at MedStar Washington Hospital Center after last week’s mass shooting was released Monday, authorities said.

A female civilian who had suffered gunshot wounds to her shoulder was discharged late in the afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A D.C. police officer remained in the hospital. He was being treated for gunshot wounds in his leg, and his condition was described as good.

The officer has been identified as Scott Williams, a Calvert County resident who has spent 23 years in the police department.

Another person had been released earlier after being brought to the hospital following the shooting rampage Sept. 16 at the Navy facility in Southeast Washington.

Twelve people were fatally shot at the Navy Yard before the gunman, Aaron Alexis, was slain by law enforcement officers.
