Panelist, On Small Business

Ms. Mackey is the CEO and one of the two co-founders of Beacon Interactive Systems. Beacon was started 18 years ago out of a rent-controlled apartment on Beacon Street in Massachusetts. Since then, the company has experienced significant growth by delivering its collaborative enterprise software solutions to customers in both the Private Sector and the Department of Defense.

Ms. Mackey’s small business advocacy efforts include Congressional Testimony on small business issues as well as participation in several small business organizations. At the national level she serves on the Board of the National Small Business Association (NSBA) and is the Vice-Chair of Legislative Affairs and Policy for the Small Business Division of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). At a regional level, she serves on the Board of the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE). And in 2008 Ms. Mackey received the Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology Leadership Award.

Prior to starting Beacon, Ms. Mackey worked for Digital Equipment Corporation. Ms. Mackey holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.
