Nancy Trejos started her career at The Washington Post as a summer intern in 1998. After a brief stint at the Los Angeles Times, she returned to the Post in 1999 as an education reporter, first covering Southern Maryland then Prince George’s County schools. She then switched to the Montgomery County bureau, where she was a general assignment reporter. She spent two months covering the war in Iraq from the Baghdad bureau. Upon her return in 2007, she switched to the financial section. She covered real estate then became the personal finance writer. During that time, she wrote a personal finance book called “Hot Broke Messes: How to Have Your Latte and Drink it Too.” In late 2009, she left Financial for the Travel section, where she is now one of two staff writers. Nancy is a graduate of Georgetown University. She is originally from Queens, New York.
