D.C. medical marijuana dispensaries closer to opening

The District is inching closer to the long-awaited opening of its three medical marijuana dispensaries.

District residents who suffer from certain conditions such as glaucoma and HIV/AIDS can now apply for a medical marijuana card that will enable them to purchase medical cannabis. The Department of Health released the application form Wednesday.

Results from an unscientific survey of Washington Post readers

Patients must still get a recommendation from a doctor. Some have already done so, while others are struggling to find doctors who are willing to participate. Once patients have cards and recommendations in hand, the dispensaries will be able to open for business.
