Peace doves come under attack at the Vatican
Pope Francis waved to tens of thousands in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday and called for peace and “constructive dialogue” between the Ukrainian authorities and its people.
As a peace gesture, Italian children released two white doves from the window of the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican.
After the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis embraced the kids. Job well done, or so we thought.
But then, in an aerial struggle, a seagull and black crow chased the newly freed peace doves.
The seagull caught one peace dove, which lost some feathers during the attack.
The peace dove came under full assault.
A crow closed in on the other peace dove.
It repeatedly pecked at the peace dove.
The peace dove attacked by the seagull was able to escape, but the other dove’s fate remained unknown. Here’s a video of the rumble.
