Raised Catholic, actress Katie Holmes married one of Scientology's most prominent members, Tom Cruise. In a 2005 interview with W magazine, Holmes said of Scientology: "I feel it's really helping. What I like about it is that, you know, I was raised Catholic, and you can be a Catholic and a Scientologist, Jewish and a Scientologist." With the news of the couple's divorce, they are facing new speculation about their beliefs and the role religion will play in their daughter's life.
