Mikhail Grabovski not in Washington for first day of training camp (updated)

(Associated Press)

Updated, 3:19 p.m.: The Capitals will need to wait a little longer to see their key offseason acquisition on the ice with the rest of his new teammates.

Mikhail Grabovski’s arrival in Washington has been delayed by visa issues and so he is not on the ice for the first formal practices of training camp. Grabovski, who is in Toronto waiting for the situation to be resolved, is slated to be in Group A with Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Green and several other mainstays.

There’s no timetable for when Grabovski will be able to join the team, but General Manager George McPhee said it’s “hopefully that’s another day or so at the most and we’ll have him”.
