Open thread: Capitals. vs. Panthers

The Capitals return home after their most lopsided win of the season, a 7-0 thrashing at Philadelphia that featured an alarming fight between Flyers goaltender Ray Emery and Caps netminder Braden Holtby – who wanted no part of the fight.

Emery, according to, will not be suspended by the NHL. Holtby (5-5-0, .921 save percentage) was to be a game-time decision against the Panthers. Michal Neuvirth (1-2-0 .905 save percentage) took shots at this morning’s skate.

And the Caps will again play without Alex Ovechkin, still nursing a bad shoulder. The goal: Have him practice with the team Monday and play Tuesday against the New York Islanders.

Talk about the game here. The particulars are below.

Faceoff: 7 p.m., Verizon
TV: CSN | Radio: 106.7 FM

Coach Adam Oates said there would be no changes to the lineup from last night. Therefore, here it is:

Goal: Holtby, Neuvirth.
Scratches: Alex Ovechkin (right shoulder), Dmitry Orlov and Jay Beagle.
LTIR: Jack Hillen (fractured tibial plateau), John Erskine (upper body).
