The Redskins have lost six straight coin flips

(Nick Wass/AP)

Here’s a fun little fact, noticed by loyal Redskins fan @fatherball: The Redskins have yet to win a coin flip this season.

Now, going 0-for-6 on a 50-50 proposition isn’t a ticket into crazytown just yet, although it’s worthy of noting in this space. Going 0-for-16, though, would be legendary. You watch sports to see history being made. Let’s wait and see.

Assuming Washington does, however, want to win a coin toss, the team might want to change up its current procedure. Get someone new to pick a side. Hire a blindfolded goat, take it into the Dr. Andrews Hut before kickoff and let it choose between a head-shaped carrot and a tail-shaped loaf of moldy bread or something. Just change things up.

Here are the first lines of the first quarter summaries from Washington’s gamebooks this season, in chronological order.

PHI wins toss, elects to Receive, and WAS elects to defend the West goal.

GB wins toss, elects to Receive, and WAS elects to defend the South goal.

DET wins toss, elects to Receive, and WAS elects to defend the East goal.

OAK wins the coin toss and elects to defer. WAS elects to Receive, and OAK elects to defend the south goal.

DAL wins toss, elects to Receive, and WAS elects to defend the North goal.

CHI wins the coin toss and elects to defer. WAS elects to Receive, and CHI elects to defend the east goal.
