A dive team in Arizona recovered the body of Frank Castillo, a former major league pitcher, Monday in Maricopa County.

Castillo, who drowned Sunday at the age of 44, spent most of his 13-year career with the Chicago Cubs. Castillo was boating with family and friends on Bartlett Lake, about 60 miles from Phoenix, when Castillo decided to go swimming. A poor swimmer, according to his family, he didn’t surface and a 911 call was placed. A dive team from the sheriff’s office began a search that was suspended because of darkness Sunday and resumed Monday.

Over his major-league career, Castillo went 82-104 with a 4.56 ERA for the Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins. He last pitched in the majors in the 2005 season.
