Texas Rangers’ Elvis Andrus swings and misses, or does he? (video)

The Texas Rangers topped the Oakland Athletics on Monday night, 4-3, but it wasn’t all that pretty. Just check out Rangers’ shortstop Elvis Andrus ridiculous swing.

But Andrus proves that just because something makes you laugh hard enough to spit out your Cracker Jacks doesn’t mean it’s not effective in baseball. Andrus wasn’t just swinging at air. This was a ninth-inning hit-and-run attempt. Andrus was hoping to make any sort of contact with the ball — even after A’s catcher John Jaso called for a pitch-out — to help his teammate Michael Choice on first advance to the next base. And guess what? It worked.
