Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Johnny Manziel — or as former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason calls him, “a baby,” — has been fined $12,000 for showing his middle finger to the Washington Redskins’ bench during the teams’ preseason game on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The gesture was broadcast live and went viral before the game was even over. At one point during the game, it even looked like Manziel was scolded on the sidelines when he was told that everyone saw what he later called his “lapse of judgement.”

It’s likely Manziel will pay the fine rather than drag this embarrassing issue out further by filing an appeal, which according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, he has the right to do. Manziel could ask the league to reduce the fine to $6,176, or 25 percent of his $24,705 weekly salary.
