Sad trombone: Budget cuts quiet our Carter Barron concerts

Normally at this time of year, we start preparing for our annual, free Weekend/Going Out Guide summer concerts at Carter Barron Amphitheatre. Remember them? Local reggae, Latin and jazz bands performing under the stars on a summer Friday night?

Well, we've got some bad news: The National Park Service at Carter Barron is scaling back its summer programming, including all of our weekly concerts. (Damn that sequester!)
