Animal Collective taking over U Street Music Hall

If you missed out on tickets for Animal Collective's sold-out Dec. 1 concert at the 9:30 Club, you can still catch the band in Washington next weekend. U Street Music Hall has announced a special DJ night with the band on Friday, Nov. 29. Tickets for the 18-and-over dance party are on sale now for $10.

Animal Collective members DJed at the Bentzen Ball's grand finale at the Howard Theatre last month, and at the 2012-13 Brightest Young Things New Year's Eve party. As you might expect for the band's original music, its DJ sets involve sound collages as well as an exquisitely curated selection of electro, dubstep, synth-house and whatever else has caught their collective ears. It's not the same as seeing Animal Collective in concert, but it should be rewarding nonetheless -- and a heck of a party.

A portion of a 2012 Animal Collective DJ gig is included below for your listening pleasure.
