From half-price flatscreens to cheap laptops, there are many reasons to go shopping at the crack of dawn on Friday morning. But here's one you probably hadn't thought of: beer.

The Dogfish Head Alehouse in Fairfax, which is located in the parking lot of the Greenbrier Town Center, will open at 6 a.m. for Black Friday. (Virginia law prohibits alcohol sales between 2 and 6 a.m.) That's well-timed for shoppers who are heading to get presents at Fair Oaks Mall a few miles down Route 50, or heading to Greenbrier to browse the stores there. (Stocking stuffers at Bath and Body Works or a new Barcelona jersey at the Soccer Post?)

Dogfish, for its part, paints the announcement as an excuse to shop for your favorite beer geek: The pub's gift shop will have Dogfish-branded hoodies, glassware and dog bowls on sale, and there's a $10 gift card for anyone who spends $100 on merchandise before 9 a.m.

But it's hard to ignore that they're also offering a 6 a.m. bloody mary bar and mimosas made with Dogfish Head's delicious and tart Festina Peche Berliner weisse, as well as breakfast burritos to fortify you for the inevitable mobs of department store deal-seekers. And besides, after a glass or two of Hellhound on My Ale and Burton Baton, both of which check in at 10 percent, you might even forget to complain about Best Buy's checkout lines.
