Amsterdam Falafelshop expanding to L’Enfant Plaza

Amsterdam Falafelshop will open a third location in the District, part of a big franchising push. The fast-casual falafel and frites restaurant has signed a lease at L'Enfant Plaza's La Promenade, with an expected August or September opening.

The new location joins Amsterdam's Adams Morgan flagship and its 14th Street restaurant, which is expected to open in early March. (That location will have some new menu items, as we previously reported.)

The move to L'Enfant gives office workers another lunch option in an area saturated with national chains like Au Bon Pain and Moe's Southwest Grill. It's also good news for in-the-know tourists who want something better than street cart hot dogs or McDonald's near the Mall.

You'll be seeing a lot more Amsterdam Falafelshop in the next few years: The company has plans for four other new restaurants in the area, though the locations have not yet been announced. It's also expanding to Dallas and Salt Lake City in addition to existing outposts in Boston and Annapolis.
