Check out Georgetown’s new ‘gongoozler’ mural

A "gongoozler" is a person who enjoys watching activity on canals. And close to the C&O Canal today, bystanders could watch as a new mural was installed for the Georgetown BID's "Gongoozlers" project, a beautification project to cover up the barriers around the Latham Hotel's renovation. The first mural, by Nena Depaz, incorporates materials found along the towpath. What do you think?

The mural will be on display at 3000 M St. NW until September 4, when it will be replaced by a succession of three murals by artists Sidney Lawrence (September 5-October 15), Kelly Towles (October 16-November 13) and Ekaterina Krupko (November 14-January 5).

Maura Judkis covers culture, food, and the arts for the Weekend section and Going Out Guide.
