'A Soldier’s Story'

Grab your blankets and snacks and catch Screen on the Green's last movie of the summer. Denzel Washington stars in this 1984 film about the investigation into the death of an African American officer during World War II.

'Monster’s University'

Looking for something to do with the kids this week? As part of the Showtime Tuesdays film series, THEARC is screening Pixar's last "Monsters" installment. Critic Michael O'Sullivan gave the children's film three stars in his review.

Author event: Elizabeth Drew

Join journalist Elizabeth Drew for a discussion about Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal, which was the topic of her 1975 book "Washington Journal." Drew will look back at the 40 years since the first presidential resignation in U.S. history. Copies of Drew's reissued book will be available for purchase and signing.

Life, Above All

The Anacostia Community Museum hosts a screening of this 2010 film about the impact of HIV on modern South Africa highlighted through the relationship between a mother and daughter. A discussion with a museum educator follows the film.

Line dancing with Denise Bryant

Kyle Dunnigan

Kyle Dunnigan is probably known best for his role as Craig on the Comedy Central show "Reno 911," but the actor/writer is no stranger to stand-up comedy. This week, Dunnigan performs at the Kennedy Center, with local comedian Jenn Tisdale opening the show.
