Chef Michael Harr moves on from Bethesda’s Food, Wine & Co.

Executive chef Michael Harr is moving on from Bethesda's Food, Wine & Co. The chef has worked at the restaurant -- in addition to its sister restaurants Fish Taco and City Burger -- since February 2011.

Harr said by e-mail that he would be moving on to the next phase of his career after taking a vacation. In a 2013 review of Food, Wine & Co., Tom Sietsema said Harr's cooking, especially deviled eggs and a 30-minute roast chicken, had him "seeing more stars."

Food, Wine & Co. owner Francis Namin said chef Sam Henderson will replace Harr. Henderson plans to keep the core of the Food, Wine & Co. menu unchanged, Namin said. Henderson, who is currently director of culinary operations for Aramark, will begin Sept. 8. Previously, he's worked at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston.

Part of Henderson's mandate, Namin said, will be to spearhead an expansion of Fish Taco and City Burger. "We have committed ourselves to a few other spaces where we’re going to be opening new restaurants," Namin said. "My company was in need of an individual who was a corporate chef to help us on new concepts and new business developments."

Namin said that he has already signed letters of intent to open a City Burger in Rockville, and a Fish Taco in Arlington. He is exploring other options in McLean, Columbia and Gaithersburg.
