U.S. Border Patrol agent suspected of kidnapping, assaulting 3, found dead

The U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of kidnapping and assaulting three unauthorized female immigrants was found dead on Thursday in his apartment in Mission, Texas, federal agents said.

Authorities have not yet released a cause of death, Reuters reported.

On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection found an injured woman who said she and two teenage girls had been assaulted by the agent. Authorities first found one of the girls, who had been stabbed, and early Thursday morning found the deceased agent and the second girl, who had been assaulted.

The three women had illegally entered Texas on Wednesday night, The McAllen Monitor reported.

The agent is suspected of raping the three: a mother, her 14-year-old daughter and another 14-year-old girl. According to The McAllen Monitor, local law enforcement officials believe the agent shot himself.
