Just how deep is the mud?

Just how deep was the mud in the recent Washington mudslide?

Estimates vary.  Jim O’Connor, a research hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Portland, Ore., told National Geographic that the mudslide was up to 15-feet deep in spots. Washington state geologist Dave Norman told the Wall Street Journal that the area was 30- to 40-feet deep in spots.

So how does that compare to what was in its path? Below are some estimates of the depth of the deposited mud as described by the experts, next to a house, a six-foot man and a compact car.
