Doug Fister returns today

For the first time in 20 days, Doug Fister will face major league hitters today. Having recovered from the elbow inflammation that shelved him after his first start, Fister is scheduled to throw three innings and 45 pitches against a Marlins split-squad contingent. So, actually, he may not be facing many major leaguers. But the start will come inside Space Coast Stadium, with a full lineup behind him.

Anthony Rendon is out today with a chest cold that has been going around the Nationals’ clubhouse. This is a lineup you could see during the regular season. They will face Marlins’ right-hander Henderson Alvarez. Bryce Harper, even though it’s a lefty on the mound, will bat fifth.
