A woman watching from a nearby building captured footage of the two desperate minutes a construction worker spent waiting on an unfinished balcony before the Houston Fire Department could rescue him from a five-alarm fire there on Tuesday.
The most intense moment of the video, shot by Karen Jones, and originally posted on YouTube, comes as the worker had to hop to another unfinished balcony below as the flames engulfed the top floor of the building.
According to The Houston Chronicle, the fire may have been sparked by a welder. The building was a $50 million complex, and nearly 200 firefighters responded to the scene.
The Chronicle said Houstonians are thanking the fire fighters Wednesday with free pizza, barbecue, and drinks.
