5:30 p.m. Update:
Aburun says it will resume classes and normal operations on Thursday morning. Law enforcement officials said they saw no threat to campus over the last day, though they asked anyone with information on who posted the message to call the Auburn Police at 334-501-3140 (or, anonymously, at 334-246-1391).
Auburn University canceled classes on Wednesday due to a threatening message posted in a bathroom on the campus.
While the university said on Wednesday morning that authorities “do not believe the threat is credible at this time,” they still canceled classes and suspended school operations for the day due to student and parent anxiety.
“Law enforcement officials are actively investigating and increasing security in and around campus,” Auburn said in the statement. Classes are expected to resume on Thursday morning.
This cancellation comes on the seventh anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre. A gunman killed 32 people before taking his own life on April 16, 2007.
