Police find no evidence of shooting near Ohio University dorm

Ohio University police did not find any evidence of a shooting at a student residence hall on the Athens, Ohio campus.

The area around the Gamertsfelder Hall dorm has been evacuated and the investigation is ongoing, according to OU spokesman Katie Quaranta. Ohio Highway Patrol and Athens Police are assisting with the investigation.

Classes are not in session but the Gamertsfelder Hall building is being used to house summer students OU’s dean of students Jenny Hall-Jones told the Columbus Dispatch. The school is not on lockdown, but people are being encouraged avoid the East Green area.
