Michelle Obama: I’m not watching GOP convention, but you should

First lady Michelle Obama says that while she thinks it’s important for Americans to watch the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, she hasn’t tuned in to the GOP gathering in Tampa this week.

“I, as the wife of the guy they are running against, I tend not to watch it. But I think it’s important for everyone to watch these conventions,” she said in an interview on “The Late Show With David Letterman” that aired Wednesday night on CBS.

Letterman also asked the first lady about Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), who recently stoked controversy with comments about rape and pregnancy.

“Oh, God,” replied Obama when Letterman brought up Akin's name.
