Romney camp has $50.4 million in bank

Mitt Romney's campaign just filed its August finance report.

The report shows $86.6 million in receipts -- including $39.2 million in transfer from a joint fundraising committee with the Republican National Committee and a $20 million loan.

The committee spent $66.4 million and had $50.4 million cash on hand at the end of the month. The committee continued to carry $15 million in debt from the $20 million loan.

The campaign said it has paid off another $4 million of that debt since the end of the month.

President Obama's campaign has yet to file its August report, which is due at midnight. The pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future spent far more than it took in last month, while the candidate faced a cash shortfall.
