Another group gets on the Akin bandwagon.
The Senate Conservatives Fund, a political action committee founded by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), polled supporters on whether Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) deserves their help, "given that he's the Republican candidate, the race is competitive, and the outcome could determine control of the Senate."
Executive Director Matt Hoskins says that 8,000 votes were cast, and 93 percent were in favor. The group's members have pledged to direct $290,000 to Akin's cash-strapped U.S. Senate campaign.
DeMint personally endorsed Akin on Wednesday, a day after the congressman made it clear that he would not drop out of the race against Sen. Claire McCaskill (D). DeMint cut formal ties to the SCF so that the group could form a super PAC.
