Obama cancels Orlando appearance to return to D.C.

ORLANDO--President Obama has cancelled an appearance Monday at a rally here with former President Bill Clinton, and returned to Washington to get back ahead of advancing Hurricane Sandy.

Clinton will appear without Obama.

Obama had arrived here late Sunday night. He had originally planned three events with Clinton on Monday, in Ohio and Virginia, as well as the Orlando rally. The others have also been cancelled.

Update: Obama has also cancelled a trip to Green Bay, Wis. scheduled for Tuesday so he can stay in Washington and monitor the storm.
