Romney mixes up days to Election Day

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — After a day of traveling nearly 1,500 miles and holding four campaign rallies in four states, Mitt Romney could be forgiven for stumbling over the number of days remaining until Election Day, which is what he did in remarks to a crowd of supporters at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport on Sunday evening.

“In his closing argument, President Obama asked his supporters to vote for revenge. For revenge! I ask the American people to vote instead for love of country," Romney said.

As the crowd let out a huge cheer, Romney continued:

“Together, we’ve got to lead America to a better place, and we're only three — two days, not three; almost one — we’re only two days away from a fresh start. Two days away from the first day of a new beginning.”

However many days remain until the election, there was no mistaking the festive mood at Sunday's final event. For the second time of the night, Romney's rally wrapped up with a fireworks display, and top staffers mingled with reporters as Romney delivered his stump speech.
