Obama doing local TV interviews

President Obama will sit down for a series of interviews with reporters from local news stations in Philadelphia, Miami, Minneapolis and Sacramento on Thursday afternoon, the White House announced.

The interviews will be embargoed until 5 p.m., Eastern. The president is pushing his "fiscal cliff" plan in the face of stalled negotiations with the congressional GOP members, part of a PR push that involves asking supporters around the country to call their Republican lawmakers. Here's the list of stations:

  • WPVI, ABC affiliate in Philadelphia
  • WLTV, Univision affiliate in Miami
  • WCCO, CBC affiliate in Minneapolis
  • KCRA, NBC affiliate in Sacramento

The White House did not list the topic of the interviews, but President Obama has made several trips outside Washington in recent weeks to make the case for his proposal to avoid the fiscal cliff.
