Pelosi, Israel to speak at Obama fundraisers

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) will speak at President Obama's two campaign fundraisers in San Francisco on Wednesday night, a Democratic official said.

The events are Obama's first fundraisers for the DCCC for the 2014 election cycle; the president has 14 events planned this year to help raise money for Democrats. 

The first event is at the home of Tom Steyer and Kat Taylor. A hedge fund billionaire, Steyer has recently and controversially waded into the Democratic primary for Massachusetts' open Senate seat, attacking Rep. Stephen Lynch. The second event is at the home of Ann and Gordon Getty.

Campaign finance watchdogs have criticized Obama for his frenetic fundraising and super PAC support, saying the president became part of a problem he promised to fix.
