Herman Cain, who ran unsuccessfully for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, told a gathering of conservative activists in Washington, D.C., on Saturday that they shouldn't wait until 2016 to "take our country back".
"This train is running full speed down the tracks towards socialism and towards communism," he told the Faith and Freedom Coalition. "Yes, I said it. Before we stop it and reverse it, we got to slow it down. That's what we do in 2014."
Cain, who suspended his campaign amid allegations of sexual harassment, told the activists he has a plan for a conservative rebound.
"After I dropped out of the presidential race because of the viciousness of the media, they thought I was going to be quiet. That's not going to happen", said Cain, who has a radio talk show.
