The vice president and the former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton will have breakfast Tuesday morning at the Naval Observatory, his official residence in Washington, according to aides for Biden and Clinton.

The meeting will come after Clinton and President Obama sat for what aides described as a friendly lunch Monday on the patio outside the Oval Office of the White House.

Biden and Clinton have been friendly for decades, having served together in the U.S. Senate and working side-by-side on national security matters during Obama's first term.

Biden and Clinton ran for president in 2008 and lost to Obama, and both are considering running again for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.
