Arkansas Gov. Beebe cuts ad for would-be Dem successor

Outgoing Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe (D) has cut an ad for the Democrat seeking to replace him, former congressman Mike Ross.

In the ad, the highly popular Beebe praises Ross as an independent leader for the state, saying "no one is more independent than Mike."

Ross will face the winner of a GOP primary between former congressman Asa Hutchinson, state Rep. Debra Hobbs, and businessman Curtis Coleman. The seat is considered a top pickup opportunity for the GOP.

Beebe has polled as one of the most popular governors in the country, with an approval rating that has topped 70 percent for years.
