Special election to fill Radel’s seat slated for June, with April primary

Gov. Rick Scott (R) set the special election timeline in Florida's 19th district Friday, slating an April 22 primary and a June 24th general election.

Most of the focus will be on the GOP primary race, given the district's heavily conservative tilt. Already, former state Rep. Paige Kreegel (R) has entered the race. Others may soon follow.

The 19th district came open earlier this week when embattled Rep. Trey Radel (R) resigned. Radel pleaded guilty last year to a misdemeanor drug charge.
