Romney: GOP should raise minimum wage

Mitt Romney on Friday called for Republicans to increase the minimum wage, becoming the third 2012 GOP presidential candidate to make such a push.

"I think we ought to raise it, because frankly, our party is all about more jobs and better pay, and I think communicating that is important to us," Romney said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

In recent days, two of Romney's former opponents, Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty, have also urged their part to raise the minimum wage.

Only one Republican in the Senate voted for a Democratic-crafted bill to raise the minimum wage to $10.10. The bill failed to clear the 60-vote threshold necessary.
