Mitt Romney on Thursday forcefully criticized Hillary Rodham Clinton's appraisal of the Guantanamo Bay detainees who were released in a deal to free Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, calling her remarks "clueless."
"I thought the most disturbing thing I saw from Hillary Clinton was when she was asked whether releasing the five commanders from Guantanamo back to the Taliban was a threat to the United States and she said no it’s not a threat to the U.S., it’s just a threat to Afghanistan and to Pakistan," Romney told Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto." "Well, that may be one of the most clueless responses I have heard in a long time because of course you don’t throw our allies under the bus."
Clinton recently told NBC News that Taliban commanders released from U.S. custody pose a threat to countries abroad, but not the United States.
"These five guys are not a threat to the United States. They are a threat to the safety and security of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is up to those two countries to make the decision once and for all that these are threats to them," she said.
