Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) raised more than $3.6 million between April and June, a hefty sum for the Democrat, who is running in one of the biggest battleground Senate races of 2014.

Hagan's campaign said it ended June with more than $8.7 million in the bank, suggesting it spent a lot of money in the second quarter. Through mid-April, Hagan had about $8.6 million on hand.

The Democrat faces state House Speaker Thom Tillis (R), who has not yet released his second quarter numbers. Through mid-April, he had about $1 million in the bank, campaign finance records show. He's benefitted from heavy spending by conservative outside groups, which have dished out millions against Hagan.
