Florida Atlantic senior closer Hugh Adams, a St. John’s graduate, is three saves shy of tying the Sun Belt Conference career record and has been named to the midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List by the National Baseball Collegiate Writers Association.

Adams, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound right-hander who redshirted last season with a shoulder injury, has 25 career saves for the Boca Raton school, including 12 this season, fourth-most in the country.

In 19 and 2/3 innings, the team co-captain has a 2.29 ERA, with 17 strikeouts and three walks. He was a first-team All-South Central Region pick in 2011.

The Owls (26-15) are at home this weekend for a three-game series with Troy.
