Schneider in 2010. (Joe Mahoney/AP) Schneider in 2010. (Joe Mahoney/AP)

Todd Schneider was what counted as a celebrity chef in Richmond, Va.: He trained with Martha Stewart, had cooked for Steven Spielberg, and ran a popular catering business in the state capital before he was hired as chef at the Virginia governor’s mansion. But just two years into that job he mysteriously left — and now he is charged with felony embezzlement, reports Laura Vozzella. Also see Vozzella’s story with Rosalind Helderman from Sunday about the controversy over the businessman who paid for Gov. Bob McDonnell’s daughter’s wedding reception; Schneider is the one who cooked that dinner, as it happens.
