Michele appears at Teen Choice

A month into her mourning, Lea Michele showed up Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards. She would leave the ceremony in Universal City, Calif., not only with an award, but also with the vocal sympathetic support of her fans.

The event marked Michele’s first public appearance since her boyfriend and fellow “Glee” star, Cory Monteith, died in July at a Vancouver hotel room after ingesting heroin and alcohol. As the 26-year-old performer tearfully accepted the honor for Choice TV Actress/Comedy, she dedicated the award to Monteith.

“We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart,” said Michele, who wore a nameplate necklace that said “Cory.”
