D.C. United vs. Houston Dynamo

(RFK Stadium) (RFK Stadium)

The end. Thank goodness.

Seven months, three weeks and four days after it began with so much promise, D.C. United’s regular season campaign reaches a merciful finish today with a nationally televised match against the points-hungry Houston Dynamo at RFK Stadium. A crowd of about 13,000 is expected.

The record books await.

Kickoff: 1:53 p.m. ET.

TV: NBC. (Channel 4 locally)

Referee: Armando Villarreal.

Game-time climate update from the Capital Weather Gang.

DCU at home: 3-9-4, 15 goals for, 27 against.

Houston away: 4-7-5, 15 goals for, 23 against.

United’s Perry Kitchen is serving a yellow-card suspension.

With a victory, the Dynamo clinches a playoff berth. With a loss, Houston is out. With a draw, the club advances only if New England loses at Columbus.

(Yes, three GKs in uniform. Club says the reason is injuries. Neal, Seaton, Kemp and Townsend are nursing knocks. Ruiz’s absence is a coach’s decision.)

Martin is a late scratch because of injury.

HOU: Hall; Sarkodie, Boswell, Taylor, Ashe; García, Creavalle, Clark, Davis; Barnes, Bruin. Subs: Deric, Lopez, Carrasco, Chabala, Weaver, Cummings, Driver.
