The IRS explained — in 2 flow charts

The Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status over the last several years has shone a light -- and not in a good way -- on the organization and what it does.

We -- and by that "we" we mean Post TV's Jeff Simon -- mined the IRS website for some answers.

First, here's the IRS organizational chart -- in which you can see where the "Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division" fits.

Then there's this chart, which explains the process a group flagged in their application for tax exempt status must follow.
