In case you haven’t been checking in here on The Fix daily (or hourly -- or every minute), House Republicans are gearing up for a major leadership reshuffle, voting Thursday to elect a new majority leader and whip.

Yep, you’ve heard those titles before, and you’ve definitely heard Virginia congressman Eric Cantor’s name by now. But don't be afraid to ask: What’s a majority leader and whip actually do, anyway?
