Regarding Tim Carman’s Feb. 12 Style item on the menu for Tuesday’s state dinner at the White House:
When my family had dinner parties and we wanted to impress our guests, we served a beautiful standing rib roast with oven-browned potatoes. And, yes, a salad.
I realize that red meat is not considered healthy today, but for a typically American dinner, served by an American president at an American state dinner at the White House, I applaud this choice as quintessentially American. Three cheers!
