I got quite a laugh reading the caption for the photograph illustrating the Feb. 15 editorial “Finally, a GOP alternative,” which stated: “Dr. Derrick Hamilton listens to Mary Blair’s heartbeat . . .” The stethoscope was placed on the patient’s right back.
While it is possible that the patient has dextrocardia, a condition in which the heart sits in the right chest rather than the left, as is normal, this condition is exceedingly rare. So I was left to ponder whether it is the doctor, the photographer or the editors who needed an anatomy lesson. My guess is it is not the doctor.
